StickyBoard: live cursors and a follow-the-presenter mode

Product team · StickyBoard

Feature

Remote workshops kept stalling on the same sentence — "which note are you looking at?" Two features that answer it before it gets asked.

Live cursors put every participant's pointer on the board with their name attached. It is a small thing that removes a surprising amount of friction: you can see where the room's attention actually is, and who is reading rather than writing.

Follow-the-presenter is the stronger version. One person takes the lead and everyone else's viewport follows theirs — pan, zoom and all — until they choose to break away. Breaking away is one click and does not interrupt anyone else.

Both work on boards of any size and do not require anyone to install anything.

What changed

  • Named live cursors for every participant.
  • Follow-the-presenter: hand the lead to anyone, viewers can break away at any time.
  • A small presence bar shows who is on the board and who is idle.
  • Cursor colours follow the participant, not the seat, so they stay stable across sessions.
